Octavus Cason George M V T K Y Photo: Born: In Virginia.[1581] Married: Mary Louise Cooper on 1 March 1877 in Brazos County, Texas. She was born in Mobile, Alabama, about 1848, having been age 63 as of May 1911.[1582] She died on 12 April 1919 in Dallas.[1583] Died: 6 March 1908, Denton, Texas.[1584] He was buried at the I. O. O. F. [Independent Order of Odd Fellows] Cemetery in Denton, Texas.[1585] Obituary: “Col O. C. George died at his home in the western part of the city after an illness…”[1586] See Obituary Chapter. Children: Elmer George, B. C. George, and Mrs. Bert Wallace of Whitewright.[1587] Parents and Siblings: Other Family: Oc’s wife, Mary L. Cooper, moved to Texas in 1876. In 1911, she was living at 920 Mason Street, Fort Worth, Tarrent County, Texas; she had resided there for nine months as of that May. She had not remarried. George, enlistment date of 14 June 1861, distinguished service: Service record, enlisted as a Private on 14 June 1861; enlisted in Company H, 4th Cavalry Regiment Virginia on 14 June 1861; Surrendered Company H, 4th Cavalry Regiment Virginia on 6 May 1865 in Winchester, VA. Height: 5’9”; eye color, grey; hair color, auburn; complexion, dark.”[1591] [NOTE:prob. del yellow—duplicates CSR.] His wife states that Oc enlisted “in 1861” for “four years or war,” “was not commisioned; was not detailed,” and that the unit was “disbanded in 1865.”[1592]
