Born: 4 May 1844.[3934] Married: “His wife … was Miss Alice Shumate, of [Fauquier] County.”[3935] Died: 18 October 1927; buried Remington Community Cemetery.[3936] Lot 12, Section 9. “Into Thy Hand I Commit My Spirit.”[3937] Obituary: “Mr. John Taliaferro, a prominent citizen and Confederate veteran, died at his home in Remington this week…. Mr. Taliaferro was eighty-three years old and served in the famous Black Horse Company.”[3938] See Obituary Chapter. Children: Parents and Siblings: A sister was Mrs. John Robinson.[3939] Other Family: John K. After the roster he provides in his 1910 article, he writes, “It is sad to realize that forty of these are known to have answered the last roll call on earth. May they strive to live so as to join those who have gone and we trust are resting under the shade of the trees with the great leaders and faithful officers and soldiers of the lost cause, is the prayer of—‘Comrade.’”[3942] J.
