Charles Champe Taliaferro, Jr. [3915] M Y Photo: Born: 26 January 1842, in Martinsburg, West Virginia.[3916] Married: “In October, 1881, he married a Miss [Marie[3917]] Barclay, of Savannah,” who passed away “in 1892.”[3918] His second wife, Mary Wilkinson Taliaferro (21 April 1844–5 June 1913), is buried in Orange County.[3919] Died: He died on 26 April 1927 in Orange County. He is buried at Graham Cemetery in Orange, where his marker is inscribed, “Charles C. Taliaferro/ Co F/ 6 VA Cav/ CSA”.[3920] He lived to age 85. ***Check relationship to “Elizabeth Wright Kelly (1822–1853) m(I) Charles C. Taliaferro 1843/ m(II) Waller Lewis Holladay.”[3926] Editor has not found conclusive proof that the people of the next paragraph are the same as those in the preceding one, or that any of them are connected with the Black Horse members. One John Payne Robinson [possibly the BH cavalryman?] wed “his cousin Margaret James Taliaferro”. Her parents were Charles C. Taliaferro, of Orange and Glouchester Counties, and wife Elizabeth Wright Kelly; Elizabeth W. Kelly was daughter of John Payne Kelly and his first wife, Margaret W. James.[3927] If these individuals are connected, then Charles C. Taliaferro’s: sister was Margaret James (Taliaferro) Robinson; brother-in-law was John Payne Robinson [BH]; mother was Elizabeth Wright Kelly; maternal grandparents were Margaret Wright (James) and John Payne Kelly. However, no proof has yet been found for this conjecture. The entry of John William Stone [BH] also mentions individuals named John Payne Kelly and Margaret Wright James—John Stone’s uncle and aunt.
